Eric Burton / Going Solo

The “solo day” was one which I enjoyed and had not experienced since my early scouting days . The adjusting to silence and being on your own was in itself a challenge but recognising that this was part of the learning process it was easy to accept and ” an open mind” attitude prevailed. The day was eventful, once I had prepared my place, as I had decided to ” wait and see what the day brought ” and take the time to see what happened over the day. A variety of experiences happened over the day and all related to the natural habitat in Knoydart; a heron coming in to rest and seek out food, highland cows roving the glen, deers calling to each other and flights of geese flying to their nesting places for winter…Scotland as its best. Albert Einstein said about creativity ” Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them”  – the solo gave me a different perspective to look at some problems. The ” place a left for another; ” Good friend in the path I have some , There followeth another ….I am leaving this place for him” ..adapted The Bridge Builder by Allen Dromgoole.
